The Wolves Of Chabrieres

The wolves of Chabrieres, just outside Gueret, is a centre devoted to the history and legend surrounding these fascinating creatures, together with an animal park containing around thirty wolves.

Feeding time is at 4 o’clock and it is interesting but rather sad to see the dog-like behaviour of the semi-tame pack in the main compound. However, if you are very patient you may spot more wolves in the other compounds around the site, and these seem to behave in a more natural way, slinking along through the undergrowth and looking more like wild animals.

On the same site there is also a planetarium, which takes advantage of the dark night sky of the Creuse. In the summer there are nocturnal story-telling sessions at the planetarium every week (in French, bien sur!)
