Lake Vassiviere

Lake Vassiviere - a manmade 1000 hectare lake dating from 1950, is the largest in the Limousin. Its waters cover territory belonging to both the Haute Vienne and Creuse departments, and on its banks are several hotels and camp sites, offering a variety of accommodation, as well as many outdoor activities. There is also a floating restaurant, which actually tours the lake as you eat!

On the island in the lake is a centre of contemporary art; an interesting building designed by an Italian architect, and housing a variety of temporary exhibitions, surrounded by a sculpture park.
